Draft Registration Cards

Original records are at the National Archives Southeast Region, 1557 St. Joseph Avenue, East Point, GA 30344.  The Family History Library of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has acquired microfilms of these records. You can order any of the films listed below by visiting one of the Family History Center offices near you.

The draft cards are arranged alphabetically by town and then grouped by the first letter of the registrants surname. It is extremely important to remember that the town is that in which the person registered and this town is NOT necessarily that in which he was born.

The names are NOT organized alphabetically, so you have to look through all the cards until you find the one you are looking for.

Occasionally while filming, lost cards would be found. If these cards were found, they would be filmed after the Z's of the locality they belonged to.

A typical card has:


  • Full name and signature
  • Home address
  • Age
  • Birth date
  • Citizenship status
  • Occupation
  • Employer's name and address
  • Race
  • Dependents or nearest relative
  • Physical description (eye color, hair color, height)
  • and sometimes more...
