La Real Cédula de Gracias was a Royal Decree dealing with Puerto Rico in the 19th century. It caused a large wave of immigration and the development of commerce, industry and agriculture on the island. The documents are all in spanish while the "Cédula" was written in spanish, english and french. Original documents including the Royal Decree are in the National Archives in Washington, DC and at the Archivo General de Puerto Rico. You can examine these documents if you visit either of these archives. Or if you prefer, you can view them in microfilm. These documents were filmed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. You can order any of the films by visiting one of the Family History Center offices near you.
